About "Buds"
I’ve been writing songs and playing with great musicians all of my life. The opportunity for a residency at The Tranzac in Toronto with Burke Carroll was something I could not pass up. As well as being a regular contributor on my Woodies records over the years, Burke has recorded with many high-profile artists (including George Fox, Ron Hynes, Sarah Harmer, George Canyon, Murray McLauchlan and Ian Tyson) and he is special. After a few shows I thought it would be a good idea to document our chemistry with some kind of record, hence “Buds”. I brought on my lifelong friend, Woodies bassist and producer Mark Shannon to man the controls and produce the record. I’m very happy with this record. The songs have been fleshed out a little more than our duo shows with bass and percussion added, but the core of what Burke and I do together is there. Enjoy
