While the pandemic pause on live shows kept Bill Wood from touring with Bill Wood and the Woodies in support of their early 2021 release Radiola, it didn’t slow his creative momentum. Working from his home in Prince Edward County, Wood teamed up with producer Annelise Noronha to record and release When the Summer Comes. The track marks his first solo effort, produced and engineered by Noronha, whose credits include work with Justin Rutledge and Selina Martin. It also features Jeremy Kelly, known for his work with Edwin and Blue Man Group, on guitar, and Chuck Dailey, who has played with I Mother Earth and David Wilcox, on bass. The result is a heartfelt ballad with warmth and depth that, like much of Wood’s writing, carries the unmistakable feel of an instant classic.
